That came across as mismanagement and poor operations and none of us had any confidence that waiting around another half hour would have resulted in any different outcome. At BLVD, we were told that our group was supposed to be set up in the back room which is a semi-private space but that a group of ladies had been dining at one of the larger tables there for several hours, "dragging out" their brunch and that they could not ask them to leave. After speaking with at least 4 different staff members (including a manager), waiting over an hour, and receiving excuse after excuse as to why we had not been seated yet (and failure to provide any accurate ETA for seating), we left and went across the street to Harlem Tavern. Trying to get to the host was an exercise in patience and skill. The entry area was packed body to body with those who could not fit standing outside. Upon arrival, the staff was completely unprepared for us and actually showed surprise that we had arrived on time. On a recent visit, I made advance reservations for a group of about 15 for a weekend brunch, as we were celebrating a relative's anniversary. However, the satisfaction of your meal is often overshadowed by poor service and management that is greatly in need of improvement. You are unlikely to be disappointed with your meal. I have brought many people to dine here and the feedback is typically positive. the capacity is still out of line with the demand, especially on weekends. I was excited for the location change, as it is a larger space and not located in a basement. I have dined at BLVD Bistro many times when it was located on Lenox Avenue and most recently, in it's new location on 116th Street.
